The aim of the festival is to raise awareness and promote all the various aspects of Italian cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and industry.

Co-presented with Cinecitta` Luce, the Italian Film Festival celebrates the rich cinematic tradition of Italy and will be an immersion into the Italian ways of life.

The programme will bring ten of the country's newest directors and films selected by critics Paolo Mereghetti and Adrian Wootton, followed by a lively Q&A session.

After the screenings at the Cine Lumière, the Italian Cultural Institute will be hosting a celebration of contemporary Italian film screenings, plus a selection of Italian TV sporting dramas, in honour of the Olympic year, and a filmic celebration of the director Vittorio de Seta. There will also be opportunities to sample delicious Italian gastronomy.
